The service at the funeral home was great, but if you’re planning on going to the cemetary for graveside services, you might want to tell the driver of the funeral home leading the hearse and procession to SLOW DOWN. We had quite a few cars in the procession and at least half of us were left behind and lost because the driver paid no attention to those in the procession and was driving like he was going to miss lunch. Myself and another car behind me were almost in an accident trying to keep up. All six or seven cars were left behind. When we got to the cemetery, we had no idea where to go and ended up missing the service, including the Sister of my close friend who died. This is a professional establishment with many years of service, but you wouldn’t know it by their actions today. There is no excuse for this! DO BETTER! It’s not like you can have a redo of the graveside services. EDIT - There was NO Police escort!! The Police stopped traffic at a stoplight one block from the funeral home and did not go any further on the 30 minute drive. The responsibility fell to the driver for the funeral home who did not slow down to keep the procession together.

My Mother passed away the week after Thanksgiving and Schildknecht handled the arrangements perfectly. I planned to have a closed casket, but they made Mother look beautiful so we left it open during the visitation. They only had three days to put everything together and they pulled it off. Thank you Curtis for all you and your staff did to make this sad occasion nice.

We have had the pleasure of dealing with Schildknecht Funeral Home on several occasions and our experience has been nothing but top-notch. The staff has always been very respectful, understanding, considerate and accommodating to requests made. They have thought of the little things that we did not think of, making the process and transition much easier during very emotional times. Everything was done in a very smooth and timely manner, and right on schedule. Thank you Schildknecht Funeral Home for all your expertise.....keep up the FABULOUS work.

We've had to use the services of Schildknecht Funeral Home 3 time in the last 10 years. The staff during each experience has been nothing but excellent. They were very understanding and provided their services with dignity and help us get through the service.

Schildknecht is top notch. They provided excellent service to me, the surviving brother. I listened, asked a few question and signed a few papers. My sister's funeral went off without a hitch. Smooth, efficient and thorough. Couldn't ask for anything more.

We lost our beloved family pet (a tiny chihuahua) due to a freak accident after a storm. There was no bringing her back from it and the entire family was wrecked due to her loss. The team there at Schildknecht was compassionate and understanding, and we were able to get her cremated promptly and got her ashes back the next day.The loving understanding from their team really made a difference for my children and being able to handle it. While I hope to not have to use their services for any member of my family again, human or non, any time soon - I will look to them first in time of need.

I have lived here my whole life. My family & I have always trusted Schildknecht Funeral Home to take care of our loved ones, as they end their journey in this life. They do such a great job in all final details, every step of the way! We have never entrusted another or have taken any of our loved one's to anywhere else. From the past, when they were also in Fairview Hgts., to the present, Schildknecht Funeral Home has been a part of our lives, & always will be.

We recently lost a very beloved pet- We contacted Curt the morning of to let him know our girl would be put down around 6pm and what their times of availability were. He let us know we could come in ANYTIME that night. We called at 730pm and they met us at 8pm to begin the process of cremating our sweet dog. Matt and Curt met us at the door and were so professional, kind and reverent. Most people would find our extreme love of our dog strange but they treated us just as though we had lost a child- which we had! We cannot recommend them highly enough for pet cremation services and we are very thankful that they exist and were so accommodating. 5 STARS. We wish their business in this area much luck and prosperity. It's so needed and appreciated.

Very compassionate staff. Welcoming mourners as they entered the funeral home. Very nice emphases of being a veteran with flag draped. Overall, Schildknecht Funeral Home is an excellent choice to help remember the loss of your loved ones.

My husband and I had moved to Florida upon his death we needed to have him returned to O'Fallon for burial. Kurt made this absolutely seamless and in my hour of grief made everything so easy for my family and I. He assisted with all details and made our services absolutely beautiful and we cannot give a higher rating to this funeral home they are absolutely amazing.

We feel that evidently they weren’t listening to what was being said. One reason is we repeated multiple times that my mom’s last name was different than my dads. When we received the death certificates it was wrong. It has now been 2 months his he passed and still don’t have the corrected death certificates. We also asked them to take his finger prints and all we got was 1 large print that even had the person doing the prints finger print in it. We also had to have them correct the board out front multiple times before they got his name correct. We had very high expectations of them, from past experience back in 2000 when my husband passed away. Just not the same.

Curt Schildnecht and the other members of staff treated our family in an extremely caring manner. My brother was unexpectedly stricken with the Covid virus. We had previously done a pre-need package and when we notified them they let us know they had "taken him into their care." I am not sure why that touched me so deeply but it did. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Schildnecht funeral home. I just want to thank them so much. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.

Schildkecht Funeral Home was very kind and helpful. We had to unfortunately lay our family dog to rest and they aided on us in the process. They even came to our home to pick him up. I had his ashes to spread the very next day. Thank you to everyone here.

Today one of our dogs died. It’s Thanksgiving, so I was concerned with what we would do with him as he is too big to bury and no vet is open. I called and spoke with Mr. Schildknech and he was very sympathetic and kind. He arranged a time for us to bring our dog in today so that he could be cremated. It was a very difficult day but Mr. Schildknech made taking care of Judge not a part of that difficulty. Thank you, our family appreciates your flexibility and kindness.

Curtis and Christine were very helpful and considerate. When trying to resolve an issue with a memorial pendant purchased from another funeral home out of state that was received without the set screw. They were able to contact the manufacturer and facilitate its replacement.
