Having to say Goodbye to my cat, Julius was heartbreaking, to say the least.Friends of mine had used Ducro Funeral Services for their pets. So, I decided to take Julius there.Never had i expected the compassion and all that entailed. When I was told that there would be a free obituary placed on their FB page and in the Gazette paper; a laminated copy, paw and nose prints and even some of Julius fur, I felt so honored. They lifted Julius to the heights I already felt.Julius' life needed to be celebrated and Ducro's thoughtfulness accomplished this for us.

I cannot say enough about Ducro! We had had 3 close family members here and they did amazing! The love and warmth they show is beyond what anyone would expect, but now we just lost our 14.5 year old dog and they went above and beyond for our sweet girl! I wouldn’t trust anyone else with someone that I love besides Ducro!

There is something to be said about a long standing family owned and operated business. JP Ducro and his staff provided my family and I with excellent customer service all throughout my grandmother’s services- from day of her death, to days after the service helping to tie up final details and documentation. Coming from a family who own(ed) and operate(d) small local businesses, we appreciated the attention to detail, caring and compassionate nature, organization and thoroughness of JP and his staff. JP even provided some unexpected personal touches to my grandmother’s services that were highly valued and appreciated. Recently we pre-planned funeral arrangements for my elderly mother with Chris Thompson. He came to her home and we had a nice, light conversation about her life and her family and then we discussed her wishes. It was stress free and everything was taken care of at one meeting. I cannot stress enough how beneficial it is to pre-plan services. Every tiny detail is covered and involving your loved ones is a blessing. Ducro Funeral services truly deserves all 5 stars! My mother passed away on Christmas Eve evening. JP himself and his staff attended to our needs without ever missing a beat, as if they did not have their own family and festivities going on. Every part of the services were personal and perfect, fit for a queen. We can not thank them enough for their professionalism, availability and guidance during this most difficult time. (We chose the horse drawn hearse which was a special touch in our opinion.)

Ducro has always been my family’s go to for funeral services and they have always been so very helping, kind, loving, and compassionate in every aspect you can think of when trying to plan your loved ones service. I myself have never directly dealt with them but was always around when other family members were making the plans. Long story short my fur baby Bella passed sometime in the night early morning Sunday in her favorite person (my son Sherord) room, when I found her I was devastated even though I knew her time was coming I just couldn’t imagine her not being here acting like a pitbull. I called Ducros and spoke to some lady who was very attentive cause I was a mess. She took my name and number and said she would have JP call me and he did just that and told me he had to go into the office and as soon as he got there he would call me to bring Bella in. It’s a Sunday, know I don’t like working on Sundays even if it’s for a hour or two so for this man to tell me that (cause lord knows I don’t think I could sleep knowing she’s down stairs wrapped up on the floor) I will be forever grateful and he was there when I picked her up ❤️❤️❤️ I thank you JP and your staff for making this experience nice and easy.

Ducro’s Funeral Home helped our family give a beautiful tribute to my beloved brother. He was a retired firefighter and we were able to include all the various fire stations he worked for and honor guard as well as firetrucks in the parking lot. They took unlimited time to make sure all of ours needs were met and I will be forever grateful to the entire staff for all the love and care they showed my family during a very sad time.

Friendly, helpful, understood my complex family and differences and was very patient explaining things and the entire cremation process with us while showing empathy and compassion with me and my family. Stephanie gave me her cell phone to call her with any questions and concerns anytime. And that means a lot and shows she loves what she does and really cares and is able to help someone during a difficult time. She explained everything in a very relatable manner. Price was affordable. When I picked up the ashes they had them separated into portions for me and my sisters and each portion was in a really nice durable plastic box. We even got her finger prints and information to order keepsakes. Amazing place I highly recommend. Thank you!

By far, the most difficult time on one's life when your wife of 36 years is taken away from you. At a time like this, you have to trust the people that are helping you. Lets face it - this is a time when you are most vulnerable to deceptions. I've known J.P. for a number of years - his personality and kindness has always given me a great feeling that he truly cares. Because of him, I felt totally at ease with Scott and the rest of the staff at Ducro. With Duro, I was given the feeling that there was no rush to make decisions and I could digest the information that they were giving me. I would find myself asking this a lot.... "it is okay if we do this?", and I would basically get the same answer that "it's whatever I want".It's been 7 months since the passing of my wife and I am still grieving, but I can sit here today and tell you that I felt loved by J.P. and his staff. I can also say that Laura was well cared for.Ironically - a few weeks ago, I lost my eldest dog. There was no question in my mind.... I needed my friends to take care of him. Believe it or not - they gave me the same respect and sympathy and care that they gave my wife - so heart warming.Death is not an easy thing to face and the decisions are equally not easy - but I will say to you, that you can absolutely be assured that Ducro Funeral will take excellent care of your loved one/ones.

After losing our father and a husband of 43 years unexpectedly, Ducro offered a phenomenal service for our family. I just had to leave a review and I never do this. Everyone that we dealt with throughout the cremation process, picking out urns and remembrance necklace lockers for ashes, finalizing paperwork and receiving my fathers ashes and death certificates, was so polite and understanding. While emotions were haywire as they usually are at this time, we felt that they took priority for our family and focused on our immediate and individual needs per person. I highly recommend Ducro in Ashtabula!! Thank you all for helping us through. I know my father was taken care of. ❤️

This establishment handled the remains of my beloved little Pharaoh Hound Makela which had tragically escaped her fenced yard and got hit and killed by a car in front of our house. They were accommodating by receiving the remains late that evening and the staff was ever so kind and compassionate in the cremation process and in returning her cremains to me. They certainly made this heartbreaking event more bearable. If they are this kind with a dog, I can but imagine how kind they are to the family of the deceased loved ones.

During these very difficult times, Ducro and his team were awesome. Actions are everything and they show it by being genuine, compassionate and patient throughout the process. While my thoughts were in a fog, Mrs. Kathleen was there to lend a helping hand. Every time I reached out to her, she responded. I can't speak enough about how helpful not only was she, but other staff members like Elder Sargeant, Mr. Ducro (Coach), Ms. Peachy and others. I would choose no other business to get this type of services from.

Supose to have a live viewing of a funeral for a family member on youtube. Basically we watched a black screen with alot of cutting in an out and someone breathing very loudly. Horrible service. Would not recommend a live with them if they offer it! Called them the lady said she would "try" to get ahold of someone to get it fixed. Acted like she could care less.Update: spoke to jp ducro about the technical difficulties.He sent some really nice gifts in the mail to us. Thank you!

VERY unhappy ....They didn't listen to us the family that said nothing about planting a tree or buying things from their (not sure what it was called) like tribute store. However they assured us they would post it as well as put something out at the funeral for donations but instead there was nothing at the funeral and ONLY on one of the 3+ obituaries is where i FINALLY found one small place at the bottom with $0 collected. That's very understandable seeing how hard I looked before I FINALLY found the one place.However, they were consistent in that on everyone of the obituaries they put the WRONG birthdate and have still NOT corrected it.Ron was born on August 13, 1948 not 2021 and he died on February 6, 2021.Also they knew money was VERY tight and ALL of us heard the one man talk about a casket rental of $99 for the viewing (since he will be cremated) but when another man came in the first man (I'm trying to leave their names out of it) denied ever saying anything at all like that even when we repeatedly questioned him. I have since learned that in these situations many places have ways to handle this with no charge at all. Instead, we were charged $495.00. That makes it that much harder for me to pay this bill especially as I keep running into one thing after another like finding out that there's no life insurance. I know we all felt very bad even asking what happened about the rental. Since we all loved him VERY MUCH, it hurt deeply trying to go the cheapest we could without being disrespectful but the reality is money is tight. I guess it's ok as long as Ron knows how much he was loved and wasn't here to see us squeezing on the money.I will say they were surprisingly fast with the death certificates which I appreciated very much.posted by his wifeDorothy

Sandy was so helpful and patient this past week when I lost my dog of 13 years. She was so nice and compassionate. She was also very good at answering any questions I had and reassuring me. I highly recommend Ducro for pet loss.

During these very difficult times, Ducro and his team were awesome. Actions are everything and they show it by being genuine, compassionate and patient throughout the process. While my thoughts were in a fog, Mrs. Kathleen was there to lend a helping hand. Every time I reached out to her, she responded. I can't speak enough about how helpful not only was she, but other staff members like Elder Sargeant, Mr. Ducro (Coach), Ms. Peachy and others. I would choose no other business to get this type of services from.

Supose to have a live viewing of a funeral for a family member on youtube. Basically we watched a black screen with alot of cutting in an out and someone breathing very loudly. Horrible service. Would not recommend a live with them if they offer it! Called them the lady said she would "try" to get ahold of someone to get it fixed. Acted like she could care less.Update: spoke to jp ducro about the technical difficulties.He sent some really nice gifts in the mail to us. Thank you!

VERY unhappy ....They didn't listen to us the family that said nothing about planting a tree or buying things from their (not sure what it was called) like tribute store. However they assured us they would post it as well as put something out at the funeral for donations but instead there was nothing at the funeral and ONLY on one of the 3+ obituaries is where i FINALLY found one small place at the bottom with $0 collected. That's very understandable seeing how hard I looked before I FINALLY found the one place.However, they were consistent in that on everyone of the obituaries they put the WRONG birthdate and have still NOT corrected it.Ron was born on August 13, 1948 not 2021 and he died on February 6, 2021.Also they knew money was VERY tight and ALL of us heard the one man talk about a casket rental of $99 for the viewing (since he will be cremated) but when another man came in the first man (I'm trying to leave their names out of it) denied ever saying anything at all like that even when we repeatedly questioned him. I have since learned that in these situations many places have ways to handle this with no charge at all. Instead, we were charged $495.00. That makes it that much harder for me to pay this bill especially as I keep running into one thing after another like finding out that there's no life insurance. I know we all felt very bad even asking what happened about the rental. Since we all loved him VERY MUCH, it hurt deeply trying to go the cheapest we could without being disrespectful but the reality is money is tight. I guess it's ok as long as Ron knows how much he was loved and wasn't here to see us squeezing on the money.I will say they were surprisingly fast with the death certificates which I appreciated very much.posted by his wifeDorothy
