Vernon’s has been dealing with our family needs for many generations.i personally have experienced their care of my family through the passing of my father, two Aunts and my dear younger brother. Vernon staff have been so kind, asking about, And attending to each need we identified, and so many we weren’t even thinking about. Vernon’s is the most personable, caring “company” I have had the pleasure of dealing with, even under such sad circumstances. My family has used to Vernon’s for years. In 2015 my husband and I lost a baby. In the second trimester but not after 20 weeks and my husband had known Victoria and Colin. He called them and they came up to cremate our baby that the hospital told my husband was to young and would have been thrown away. They took care of everything. And put our baby in a beautiful urn. I actually walked into Vernon’s for my great aunt funeral and they saw me and thought I was coming from our baby. In December of 2021 we lost my husbands grandmother. She had no planning set. Vernon’s took care of everything. She didn’t want to be buried she wanted cremation. When we went to say our goodbyes I wasn’t sure what to expect. But walking into a bedroom with her lying on a bed looking like she was sleeping wasn’t what I every expected. It was the most calming, and heartwarming experience. They didn’t rush us, and we sat in there for what felt like ever. My mother in law kept saying she just wanted to get into bed with her. I truly think it was the most peaceful way to say goodbye to a loved one I’ve ever experienced.In August of 2024 my grandmother passed away. I have never had to sit down and plan a funeral for a loved one. They were attentive and caring. Let us take our time. There was no rush after the funeral before the burial when we weren’t ready for them to close the casket. They just stood by and let us take our time. I did my mammaws make up and hair and they set it up so I was in a room where it felt like we were in her bedroom. The funeral and viewing passed with no issues, and they listened to what we wanted and made sure to give it to us. Even after they reached out and checked on us. I really can’t say enough good about Vernon’s.

Vernons did more than we could have ever expected , my brother passed and it was so hard for my whole family and he was such a browns fan that Jim from vernons wore not only a browns jersey but also brought his quilt and set it up as a back round for braydons funeral we never asked he just did it and we were all just so thankful because it just showed us how much vernons cared and was there for us through this troubled time . We were so greatful that we didn't have to stress about much of anything because they made the process for us a lot smoother . We will be using them in the future as they showed us they cared and met our every need for my brother and our family. They were very professional and showed sympathy and have checked in on us multiple times we are greatful to have went with vernons .

All the people at Vernon's were wonderful. Always making sure that we had what we needed and answered all of our questions. They called to check on us to see if we needed anything. I would recommend them to care of your loved one. They walk you through every step and let you choose what you want with no pressure. They will work with you on payment if you have no insurance . As I said before they are all wonderful people and I appreciate all they have done for my family as we went through one of the hardest times in our lives. I would like to thank them all for all they have done for us!

We found that Vernon's of Urbana to be exceptional for the funeral of my Mother. We challenged them with a lot of requests and they were so gracious to accommodate us. They spent time with us and never made us feel rushed. The funeral itself ran seamlessly and the music was found and played at the appropriate time. We felt very well taken care of. The costs were exactly as they quoted. Thank you John, MacKayla and all of the staff for making such a difficult time a beautiful celebration of my Mom.

This family and their employees go above and beyond their call of duty and obligations. This is so much more than just a job to them and it shows. They care for your loved one as if it were their own family. They were there to help me navigate the grief after losing my significant other at 35 years old. They helped me plan the memorial down to every last detail, and even after, they continue to show their care by checking in on me with even a friendly text. They made themselves available night and day during my difficult journey, and I will forever be grateful to them. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my loved ones. You want a top notch funeral director in all of Champaign and Clark County. I would go to Vernons and ask for John Detling. He is the most caring and compassionate around. He takes the time to listen to what you want and take the time with ever tiny detail. He is very meticulous in all the details and explains everything so you understand. He is there through the whole process any time and with whatever question you might have. You could not find another funeral director like John Detling for miles . I personally don't know how I could have done it with anyone else. Thank you Vernons but more importantly thank you John Detling.

Vernon was amazing. They went above and beyond for our family after the loss of my Father-in-law. They surprised the family with large blown up pictures of Dad around his casket and they will never know how much that meant to us! We used Vernon's the first time when my Father (Bob Criner) passed away in 2014 and during our grief and not knowing 'how to go about a funeral" Tammy and crew stepped in and were a God send, and walked us through the process with much caring and support. Then recently my Mother "Bev" went to join dad in heaven and we didn't even have to think about what to do, after our first experience with Vernon's. Once again Tammy, Jennie and crew jumped in and 'handled' SO MUCH for us and went way above and beyond.
